A flat dapping block with 27 depressions is a solid, typically square or rectangular, hardened steel or cast iron block featuring an array of hemispherical indentations (or "depressions") of varying sizes. These indentations are used to shape, dome, or curve metal sheets, coins, or discs by placing the metal over a depression and striking it with a matching dapping punch or doming tool.
